'Acacia' is a well-known group to those who love a cappella. For 10 years, they have created Korean-style a cappella centered on purely original compositions and have dug a single well, receiving love from enthusiasts. During that time, they released two EPs: 'Acacia 0.5' (released in 2006) and 'Ode to Youth' (released in 2007). The album 'Acacia ONE' released this time is a full-length album containing 10 purely original songs. Based on harmonies honed over 10 years, it well reveals their color as an original a cappella team. Beyond color, it even feels like stubborn persistence.
Korean-style a cappella grown in Korea! 'Acacia'
The 'Acacia ONE' album gives the feeling of nature as it is, raw as it is. It contains a refreshment like organic fruit and a warm gaze toward neighbors. It is also deeply imbued in 'Rain Shower' and 'Ode to Youth' from the previously released EP albums. That code remains alive in 'Donbyeolgok (Farewell to Money),' 'A Salesman's Return Home,' 'Move Out of the Way,' 'Bicycle,' 'Look at Me,' and 'Clear and Blue' of this album. In that sense, it is fitting to call Acacia 'a cappella grown in Korea.' This is also Acacia's musical color.
A cappella talking about and singing the lives of neighbors! 'Acacia'
In this album, 'Acacia's' warm gaze looking at the world is contained in every song. The title track 'Donbyeolgok (Farewell to Money)' is a song of farewell to money. 'Money,' which handed us sweet candy when we were young, has now become a monster that even makes people betray friends and family. It tells this money to go away now. Although a bit heavy, it is a subject matter that cannot be bypassed in our lives. While it is content that can easily tilt toward message or thematic awareness, by injecting tension into the music, it balances the lyrics and music without losing warm sensibility. The music is even cheerful with a Latin rhythm. It is a title track showing the trend of this album. It also sings of living together in nature. The song 'Bicycle' is representative. It is a song that unfolds in chronological order the country roads, sky, and forest seen while riding a bicycle. In the middle of the song, the music suddenly disappears and bird sounds and wind sounds appear. The voices of Acacia members, which had briefly disappeared, transform into a rattling and running bicycle as the song proceeds. It is a highlight showing 'Acacia's' a cappella imagination.
Although they could not lead a glamorous musical life gaining great fame over the past 10 years, it also includes songs of determination to sing without wavering as long as there is music resounding from the depths of the heart. The opening track of 'Acacia ONE.' Describing the passing scenery through sound during a day-long bicycle trip. As the song disappears in the middle of the track, the sound of a bicycle running through a forest trail is expressed through voices and mouth sounds. This part is the pinnacle of a cappella imagination.
2. I Like You (4:26) - Lyrics, Composed: Park Tae-seung
Lyrics containing the emotions of an innocent man experiencing unrequited love. An easy-to-sing-along melody. A song made with popularity in mind.

A song of determination to live a life of continuing to sing as long as there is a melody echoing from the heart, even without being a famous singer leading a glamorous career. The R&B-feel composition and arrangement are new to 'Acacia.'

The protagonist in the song is a woman who lost her beloved. Although tears flow endlessly beyond her own will, rather than sinking into sorrow, she tries to smile and sing to overcome the pain. Using a waltz rhythm for lyrics containing sadness, it added depth to the sorrow.

A song depicting the push-and-pull between a man who keeps making mistakes and a woman who forgives every time. A delightful song with a swing rhythm.

The title track of this album. A song about 'money.' An entity that handed candy to my hand when young becomes a monster upon becoming an adult and cannot be handled. Shouting to scary money, which is enough to distance me from the people I love, to get lost now. Although a heavy theme, it is not dark because the excitement of the Latin rhythm is alive.

The daily life of an exhausted salesman. It is the scenery on the way back home. Finding it even harder due to the surrounding indifference where no one cares while I am this tired and exhausted.

Depicting an ordinary person who is truly upright and kind in daily life, but turns into a beast once grabbing the steering wheel. Characterized by a musical-like musical structure.

Team introduction song. Expressing the characteristics of each part—soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone—through their respective vocalizations in a cheerful atmosphere with a funky rhythm. The process of these respective vocalizations merging into one to create harmony is contained within the song.

Track Commentary by Theme
What cannot be left out of life is love. A timid unrequited love just begun is expressed in 'I Like You,' a lovers' push-and-pull lover's quarrel in 'Look at Me,' and the pain of parting and sadness of farewell in 'Clear and Blue' through different rhythms and voices. The three-colored theme of love is unfolded in pop, swing, and waltz styles.
The lives of modern people are depicted in a slightly different way in 'A Salesman's Return Home.' Against the backdrop of a monotonous rhythm, the scenery of 'a salesman' returning home, exhausted and frustrated by life, is drawn serenely in gray tones. 'Move Out of the Way,' which comically portrays the two faces of a reckless driver, is also a cross-section of a mirror reflecting our lives. The image of an ordinary person who is usually a good father, husband, and neighbor, but transforms into the exact opposite character once grabbing the steering wheel, is delightfully portrayed through a musical-style phrasing.
아카펠라그룹 아카시아의 정규앨범 ‘아카시아 ONE’
'아카시아'는 아카펠라를 좋아하는 이들에겐 많이 알려진 그룹이다. 10년 동안 순수창작곡 중심의 한국형 아카펠라를 만들어 내고, 한 우물을 파 온 그룹이어서 매니아 층에서 사랑을 받고 있다. 그동안 '아카시아 0.5'(2006년 출시)와 '청춘예찬'(2007년 출시)이라는 두 장의 EP를 발매했다. 이번에 발매하는 음반 '아카시아 ONE'은 순수창작곡 10곡이 수록된 정규음반이다. 10년 동안 다져진 하모니를 바탕으로, 창작 아카펠라 팀이라는 색깔을 잘 드러낸다. 색깔을 넘어 고집처럼 느껴지기도 하다.
한국에서 자란, 한국형 아카펠라! '아카시아'
'아카시아 ONE' 음반은 자연 그대로, 날 것 그대로의 느낌을 받는다. 유기농 과일 같은 청량함과 이웃을 향한 따뜻한 시선이 들어있다. 앞서 출시한 EP 음반의 '소나기'나 '청춘예찬'에도 많이 배어 있다. 이번 음반의 '돈별곡', '어느 세일즈맨의 귀가', '비켜', '자전거', '날 좀 봐줘요', '맑게 푸르게' 등에도 그 코드는 살아있다. 그런 뜻에서 아카시아를 '한국에서 자란 아카펠라' 라고 해도 좋겠다. 이는 아카시아의 음악색깔이기도 하다.
이웃들의 삶을 이야기하고, 노래하는 아카펠라! '아카시아'
이번 음반에는 세상을 바라보는 '아카시아'의 따뜻한 시선이 곡마다 들어 있다. 타이틀곡인 '돈별곡'은 돈과의 이별 노래이다. 어릴 때 달콤한 사탕을 쥐어 주던 '돈'이 이제는 친구, 가족도 배신하게 만드는 괴물이 돼 버렸다. 이런 돈에게 이젠 좀 꺼지라고 한다. 조금은 무겁지만 우리 삶에서 비껴갈 수 없는 소재이다. 자칫 메세지, 주제 의식으로 치우치기 쉬운 내용이지만 음악에 긴장감을 불어 넣어 가사와 음악 간의 균형을 맞춰가며 따뜻한 감성을 잃지 않는다. 음악은 라틴 리듬으로 흥겹기까지 하다. 이번 음반의 경향을 보여 주는 타이틀 곡이다. 또 자연 속에서 더불어 살아가는 모습을 노래한다. '자전거'라는 곡이 대표적이다. 자전거를 타면서 보았던 시골길과 하늘과 숲을 시간 순서로 풀어낸 곡이다. 곡 중반에 음악이 갑자기 사라지면서 새소리, 바람소리가 나타난다. 잠시 사라졌던 아카시아 멤버들의 목소리는 덜그럭 거리며 달려오는 자전거로 변신하여 노래가 진행된다. '아카시아'의 아카펠라적인 상상력이 돋보이는 부분이다.

'아카시아 ONE'를 여는 곡. 하루 동안의 자전거 여행을 통해 스쳐가는 풍경들을 소리로 묘사. 곡 중간에 노래가 사라지면서 숲 속 길을 뚫고 달려오는 자전거 소리를 목소리, 입소리로 표현함. 이 부분이 아카펠라적인 상상력의 백미.
2. 너를 좋아해 (4:26) - 작사, 작곡: 박태승
짝사랑을 하는 순진한 남자의 감정을 담은 가사. 따라 부르기 쉬운 멜로디. 대중성을 염두에 둔 노래.
3. 노래는 나에게로 (4:55) -작사: 홍원표, 작곡: 구예니, 편곡: 박태승
화려한 활동을 하는 유명한 가수는 아니지만 가슴 속에서 울려 나오는 멜로디가 있는 한 계속 노래하는 삶을 살겠다는 다짐의 노래. R&B 느낌의 작곡과 편곡이 ‘아카시아’에게 새로움.

노래 속의 주인공은 사랑하는 사람을 잃은 여자. 자기 의지로 어쩔 수 없는 눈물이 계속 흘러나오지만 슬픔 속에 잠기기보다는 애써 웃음 지으며, 노래도 부르면서 아픔을 이겨내려고 노력. 슬픔을 담은 가사에 왈츠 리듬을 사용하여 슬픔의 깊이를 더하였다.
5. 날 좀 봐줘요 (3:23) - 작사, 작곡: 김혜능
계속 실수하는 남자와 번번이 용서하는 여자의 밀고 당기는 모습을 그린 노래. 스윙리듬의 유쾌한 노래.
6. 돈별곡 (2:31) - 작사, 작곡: 김혜능
이 음반의 타이틀 곡. '돈'에 관한 노래. 어렸을 땐 사탕을 내 손에 쥐어주던 존재가 어른이 되니 괴물이 되어 감당할 수가 없게 된다. 내가 사랑하는 사람들과 멀어지게 할 만큼 무서운 돈 이젠 좀 꺼져달라고 외침. 무거운 주제이지만 라틴리듬의 흥이 살아 있어 어둡지 않음.
7. 어느 세일즈맨의 귀가 (5:00) -작사: 박태승, 홍원표, 작곡: 박태승
지치고 지친 세일즈 맨의 일상. 집으로 돌아가는 길의 풍경이다. 나는 이렇게 힘들고 지치는데 아무도 관심 가져주지 않는 주위의 모습에 더욱 힘겨워 함.
8. 비켜 (4:22) - 작사: 김영, 작곡: 김영
일상 생활에선 정말 반듯하고, 착한 사람이 운전대만 잡으면 야수로 변하는 보통사람의 모습을 그림. 뮤지컬 적인 음악 구성이 특징.
9. 우리는 아카시아 (3:21) -작사, 작곡: 홍원표, 편곡: 홍원표, 박태승
팀 소개 노래. 펑키한 리듬의 흥겨운 분위기로 각 파트 소프라노, 알토, 테너, 바리톤의 특징을 각자의 발성으로 표현함. 이 각자의 발성들이 하나로 합쳐져서 조화를 이루는 과정이 노랫 속에 들어 있음.
10. 반가워 (4:33) - 작사, 작곡: 박태승
아카시아의 공연을 보러 온 관객들에 대한 인사. 왁자지껄한 엔딩 곡을 끝내고 정리하는 기분으로 차분하게 노래하는 감사의 인사.
주제별 곡 해설
삶이라면 빼 놓을 수 없는 것이 사랑. 이제 시작한 소심한 짝사랑은 '너를 좋아해'라는 곡에서, 연인끼리 밀고 당기기는 사랑싸움은 '날 좀 봐줘요'에서, 헤어진 아픔, 이별의 슬픔은 '맑게 푸르게'에서 서로 다른 리듬과 목소리로 표현하였다. 팝, 스윙, 왈츠 스타일로 세 가지 색깔의 사랑 주제를 풀어냈다.
현대인들의 삶은 '어느 세일즈맨의 귀가'에서 조금 다른 방법으로 묘사한다. 단조로운 리듬을 배경 삼아 삶에 지쳐 좌절하고 있는 '어느 세일즈맨'의 귀갓길 풍경을 회색 톤으로 잔잔하게 그렸다. 난폭 운전자의 두 얼굴을 코믹하게 그려 낸 '비켜' 역시 우리 삶을 비추는 거울의 한 단면이다. 평상시에는 좋은 아빠, 남편, 이웃이지만 운전대만 잡으면 정반대의 캐릭터로 변신하는 보통 사람의 모습을 뮤지컬 느낌의 화법으로 유쾌하게 그려냈다.
